Manhattan Center Productions is proud to support New Music Seminar 2015 which takes place June 21-23 in New York City, providing performance and meeting spaces for the seminar and its attendees.
The New Music Seminar (NMS) is a Music Conference and Festival held annually each June in New York City, it originally ran from 1980 – 1995 and was relaunched in 2009. (Check out the vintage Madonna clip from NMS '84) NMS features over 150 CEOs, Presidents, Executives, and leaders in the emerging music business along with over 100 artist performances. The mission of the New Music Seminar is to grow a sustainable and better music business to allow creators the best opportunity to succeed. The NMS strives to enable more artists to achieve success and encourages new levels of investment in music and artists. In 2012, NMS hosted the first New York Music Festival in collaboration with the New York City Mayor's Office of Media & Entertainment declaration of the city’s first New York Music Week.
he festival took place in 17 venues throughout Manhattan
and Brooklyn. From its origins in 1980, NMS has been characterized as a catalyst for change in music and business. Notable iconic stars such as Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Oasis, Madonna and Run DMC have launched through the original NMS. Today, the likes of Macklemore, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Banks, Action Bronson, Schoolboy Q, Joey Bada$$, Meg Myers, Thee Oh Sees, Kid Ink, and more have all been named as NMS’ Artist on the Verge before they broke.
NMS limits its registration to 1,500 esteemed international delegates and ensures that all sectors of the music industries are represented. This focused approach allows NMS to provide high quality networking opportunities and business experiences - conducted on a personal level rarely found elsewhere.
During the days, NMS presents sessions with CEOs, executives, investors, entrepreneurs, musicians, and the industry leaders of today and tomorrow. These disruptors tackle pressing issues that face the business, exchange ideas, and reveal insights for growth and success.
In the evenings, NMS plays host to the ultimate opening night Red Carpet event, followed by nights of curated showcases with the essential International performers and a selection of Artists-on-the-Verge - as determined by the NMS Artist on the Verge Advisory Committee.
NMS continues its tradition to bring music and business together by providing a platform where the two can maximize their goals.
